Nia Akins, representing the Brooks Beasts, placed second in the women's 800 meters in a lifetime-best 1:58.82 at the Sound Running Track Meet at JSerra High in San Juan Capistrano, Calif. Akins became the 34th female athlete in American history to run under 1:59, improving on her previous-best 2:00.24 from July.
